East Jackson District Superintendent,
Giles Lindely and wife, Lisa
Giles
Lindley has begun his fourth year as Superintendent of the East Jackson
District. A native of Jackson, Giles grew up in Wesley and Christ
United Methodist Churches. He returns to the East Jackson District
with his wife, Lisa, a Special Education teacher. Their daughters,
Charla and Chelsea, are both studying Biomedical Engineering.
Charla is a PhD student at Arizona State University. Chelsea is a
Senior at Mississippi State University. The whole family traveled
to Ghana in the summer of 2008 as part of a mission team with the
Mississippi State University Wesley Foundation.
Giles
graduated from Callaway High School in Jackson. He received a BA
degree from Mississippi State University, a MDiv degree from Duke
Divinity School, and both MS and PhD degrees in Communication from the
University of Southern Mississippi. His academic interests are
preaching, Wesleyan history, and church architecture. His current
project is to read through the entire set of John Wesley’s Journals and
Diaries.
He has
served pastorates in Philadelphia, Laurel, d’Iberville, Ellisville, and
New Albany. He believes in holding up our Wesleyan heritage,
strong mission and outreach programs, and growing disciples in faith and
stewardship.
Giles
has enjoyed being back home in the East Jackson District. He is
excited about the work done in the District with Hispanic Ministries and
the two New Church plants started during his tenure.
